Shona Sculptures Come see the wonderful and exciting stone sculptures carved by the Shona. World-famous carvers, the Shona have had exhibitions in the Smithsonian Institution as well as in galleries throughout Europe, Africa, and the United States. Each piece is hand carved in stone such as verdite, opalstone, serpentine, or soapstone. It's amazing to realize that there are no power tools used on any of the carvings. The graceful lines and wide range of subject matter make the shona sculptures a must to see.
