"I find it difficult to put into word the reasons that compel me to paint. In such concentration I simply allow each painting to evolve. In this way emotions and sense of place are in each painting."
My approach to painting depends upon the scene before me and my initial response to it. I am drawn to bright color like a magnet on the refrigerator. I interpret my painting from my photos and sketches I have made. I look for the lightest and darkest elements. Everything else is keyed from them. I identify a sense of mood and sometimes nostalgia
As always, I hope to give the viewer a moment away from their busy lives, a moment to enjoy life's treasures.
